Crowns and Hearts

I think I'm still a bit of a Valentine groove- I'm still enjoying the red and black classic colour combintion. I've made this card for a stamping friend as a happy boost:-)
I'm also entering it into The Gingersnap Crown challenge.
I've collaged various stamp images and smooched, I've then embossed a crown image and added a heart which I've stamped, cut out and shimmer paint and then Crystal effects. The heart looks real pretty in real life, I hope you can see that.

pink roses

Here's my entry for the sketch challenge over at Jac Inks. I've made a pretty card for a friend who's becaome a grandma this week.

Colour Combo: Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White.

Everything this week is overshadowed by the grief and sadness of the earthquake in Christchuurch. Everyone I know is safe- but many aren't. I have friends waiting to hear about missing loved ones, if you are able to donate please donate to the New Zealand Red Cross- please follow this link The Britsh Red Cross has also sent up an appeal.

We are a small country and there are very few people who don't know someone affected in some way to this tragedy. There is also though a feeling of being amazed by how so many countries are coming to Christchurchs aid- the rescurers are doing an amazing job- in very difficult and dangerous conditions. Please continue to send your Thoughts and Prayers to the people in Christchurch.

Amour

I think this is probably my fav stamp set at the moment- Artistic Etchings- so romantic for valentine's day. The theme at Just Add Ink this week is Just Add Love :)

I'm also enjoying collaging stamps together. It's hard to see in the photo but the rose is watercoloured then painted with shimmer paint. I've also smooched- I'm happy with how the cartons and the card have turned out.

Colour Combo: Real Red, Basic Black, Blushing Bride, Basic Grey.

Just Add Birthdays

This weeks challenge at JAI is Just add Birthdays. For me it can be hard to do simple cards I tend to want to make things "busy", but I really wanted to try and make a pretty but elegant ladies birthday card.
I have heat embossed with glitter using the rose from the Fifth Avenue Floral set. I've "coloured" in the rose with Shimmer paint. I have layered with basic Black and Perfect Plum. I have to say that the photo just doesn't do this card justice.

Details
Stamp sets: Fifth Ave Floral, Curly Cute.
Inks: Versamark.
cardstock: Rich razzleberry, basic Black, Perfect Plum.
Other: Glitter, Sticky Diamonds, Scallop Trim Border Punch.

Just Add Blue

This weeks challenge at JAI is to Just Add Blue, this is to raise the Awareness of Depression and Anxiety, and how it affects individual and families. In the work of my "other job" I see many people and families affected either directly or indirectly by depression- it's ripples are insidious and felt widely. So this combined with the fact that since the end of September I have been receiving a lot of very sad news from different Family & friends, and that sometimes a card can express your sadness that other ways do not, I really wanted to make this card.

Yesterday we heard that a cousin's baby has been stillborn, this is such a great immeasurable loss for her, her immediate family and our family as a whole. Being 12,000 miles away means I can do little to help practically. So this little blue card is for them. A sympathy card is always hard to make but this was especially hard. Please send thoughts and prayers to this brave mother, father and sisters of this precious baby boy.

Finally I want to share links that have info and where to get support in NZ for Depression, PND and Stillbirth.

Just Add Stitching

This weeks Just Add Ink Challenge is to add Stitching, whether real or faux. I've made a 12 X 12 Scrapbook page of another of my grandmas as a girl. I've used the gorgeous Bella Rose DSP and Chocolate Chip cardstock to show off this pretty Heritage family photo. I've used my trusty sewing machine to add definition in various parts of the page, most noticebly on the tags and the rose leaves. The roses I've Stamped using the Fifth Avenue Floral Stamp set and then watercoloured them using Riding Hood Red and the Aqua painters, adding a bit of dimension with the Dimensionals. With a Finishing touch of Kraft Taffeta Ribbon.
