Winter Wonderland

We woke to some snow this morning on local hills- which is a first in the 10 years we've been here in New Zealand- Which means my kids had never seen snow, so we went up the valley to Tunnel Gully to see the snow :-)

Inspired by the really wintery weather I've made this card for the Paper Players CAS Sketch Challenge.
I didn't keep it very simple I'm afraid- I love my glitter and ribbon too much.
I've brayerd and sponged the scene, using masking and the tree from the Lovely as a Tree set (SU). Then I've added some Iridescent white powder and dazzling Diamonds and some green Stickles.
The photo's not the best- light is at a premium, beacuse of the wintery weather. Stay warm.

Night and Day

The current challenge over at Gothic arches is Night and Day. Here's my entry I'm not 100% happy with it- but hey you can't always get it right. I've used the Elements of Style Stamp Set and created the blossom by day and night, with the sun and moon created by sponging, and some sparkle from Shimmer paint and Dazzling Diamonds. I like how there's such a sharp contrast between the top and bottom of the arch.

Tempting Organza

This weeks Just Add Ink Challenge is Just Add Material. So I thought this is a good opportunity to play! I've glued (using PVA) Turquoise Organza to White paper and let it dry. I've then punched and stamped it. I used Staz On for the ink- but it's still got a softer feel. Some last minute sneek Peeks here too:
Stamp Sets:
Artistic Etchings (new)
Curly Cute ( new)
Friends 24-7
DSP; Newsptint (new)

Let me know what you think of my Turquoise Delight.

Fancy Flower

I am really loving this new punch Fancy Flower, it makes beautiful flowers and look gorgeous layered with some Dazzling Diamonds and a Diamante Brad.
Here I've made this Squash book also using Friends Never Fade Stamp Set. I'm taken with this stamp set too- and you can see I've used the Rock N Roll technique. There's also some Cottage Garden Stamps - also good for the Technique.
Just 3 days to go- until you can order these new goodies from Me!

I've designed this card using the sketch over on Stamping 411 this week. Using Tea Party DSP, En Francis Stamp and lots of Dazzling Diamonds! With a little stitching and Certainly Celery Ribbon for detail. An easy but pretty card to make.

Colour Challenge at Swap Sisters

This weekend Swap Sisters challenged us to use Perfect Plum, Going Gray, Pretty in Pink and Whisper White, what a feminine combination. I've made a card for my sister in law. I've embossed with Dazzling Diamonds onto Perefect Plum Cardstock, matted with Pretty in Pink. And then clear embossed onto whisper White with The Seaside stamp set, then spritzzed the card and added the colours as pastels. FInally I've added a little bow in Whisper White Ribbon. I think the overall effect is very pretty and has a watery soft look like the sea.

Just- Add- Ink #17 - Card 2

So here is my second card, very similar to the first, except it's much more simple in style.

Just- Add-Ink #17

This week is a technique challenge with a blog hop showcasing different techniques on the design teams websites. I've gone with tow of the techniques: masking shown by Danielle Daws and Watercolouring as shown by Sarah Klass.
I wanted to create a soft vintage look, so I purposely used Chocolate Chip Ink rather than StazOn. This has given the stamped images a softer feel. Using Winter Post Stamp Set, I've stamped the couple on to water colour paper. Then I masked them, and stamped with trees from Lovely as a Tree. I've also used the reflection technique to add the skater's reflection on the ice. I love how this has created a little romantic scene. I've then watercoloured using various inks. Using the Aqua Painter make this surprisingly easy and gives a very different look to using Blender Pens. Then to complete the winter look I've added "snow" using dazzling Diamonds and Pearl Ex Powder.
I have made two cards, and couldn't decide which I liked best so Here's card 1, with card 2 to follow in separate post.
Card 1 is in my favourite style- Over the Top Vintage LOL. For the Vintage background I've collaged text, sheet music and stamps, adding a soft glaze with Mod Podge. I've then added embellishments of mini tags and beads from the Pretties Kit.
Let me know which one you prefer.
